How is the role of a leader changing?
Leadership is changing dramatically. The old ways of command and control are being disrupted and team members need to know their leaders care about them as people and not just as workers. Leaders who show humility and vulnerability and share their own challenges are better able to connect with others and instill a sense of belong in teams. Additionally, team members want to do work that matters and has a purpose and meaning to the organization, customers, clients, employees, etc. In order to be a good leader in the future, leaders will need to pay attention to the well-being of their direct reports, as well as to goals, outcomes and results. Essentially, they will need to be able to make people feel they are valued and connected, and that they belong.
